About me

Hi, I’m Andrew McElfresh, founder of Forerunner Construction Corporation.
I help homeowners and builders navigate the early phases of construction with clarity, strategy, and care. With over a decade of experience in construction and small business consulting, I specialize in pre-construction planning—guiding projects from vision to build-ready with integrity and precision.

The Heart Behind the Work

Driven by Values

I approach every project with honesty, integrity, and stewardship. I believe construction isn’t just about what you build—it’s about how you build, and who you build it with. Trust and transparency are at the core of every relationship I form.

Pre-construction Expertise

From budgeting and conceptual layouts to permitting and contractor vetting, I focus on everything that happens before a shovel hits the ground. My job is to help you plan smart, avoid costly surprises, and prepare your project for success.

Business-Minded Solutions

With experience across multiple industries—including construction, automotive, and home services—I’ve helped owners streamline operations and deliver better outcomes. That lens helps me see problems before they surface and keep projects moving forward.

People First

What drives me is helping real people make confident, informed decisions about their homes. I love working with clients one-on-one, solving challenges, and making the process feel more human—because it is.

Collaborative. Focused. Personal.
Every project starts with a conversation. I’m here to listen, strategize, and walk you through the process—side by side—so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

Frequently asked questions

What is pre-construction consulting?

Pre-construction consulting covers everything before building starts—like budgeting, planning, permitting, and contractor coordination.

This can also be referred to as "soft costs"

When should I bring you into my project?

The earlier the better—before hiring a contractor or starting design—so we can align your goals, budget, and vision from day one.

Whether you're already in pre-construction or don't know whats going on, I'm here to help.

Can you work with my existing contractor or architect?

Yes. I often collaborate with builders, architects, and engineers to keep everyone on the same page and the project moving smoothly.

Sometimes it takes even more coordination to make a project a success!

Do you provide design plans or just advice?

I offer both. I create conceptual layouts and coordinate full architectural and engineering plans when needed for permits or construction.

I'm always happy to give advice, but I can only do so much without full involvement.

What if I want to manage my own project as a homeowner?

I can coach you through the process as an owner-builder—giving you tools, connections, and guidance to stay in control without being overwhelmed.

Many of my clients have successfully managed and executed parts of their project.

How do your services save me money?

By preventing scope creep, delays, and bidding issues. A solid plan up front means fewer change orders and better contractor pricing.

Often, coming to a contractor with all decisions made will save time, money, and headaches for them.

What areas do you serve—and can you work remotely?

I serve Washington and Oregon in person, and I also offer virtual services for planning, consulting, and coordination when needed.

I'm located in Vancouver but can work with those near or far!

How do I get started with you?

Just reach out for a free intro call. We’ll discuss your goals, timeline, and how I can support you through the planning process.

You're only one call away from a successful project!
